Tom has worked as a policy adviser in State and Federal Government across a wide range of policy areas and projects. Prior to joining dandolo, Tom was an adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) in Canberra. In this role he provided strategic policy advice to the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister’s Office and the PM&C Senior Executive in areas including industry, innovation, science, energy, resources and climate change. He previously worked in the National Indigenous Australians Agency on policy issues relating to education, training and employment, and held similar roles in the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development and the Western Desert Lands Aboriginal Corporation in Perth.

Influential work:

  • Developing a strategy and action plan to improve school attendance in Western Australia’s most remote and highly disadvantaged communities.

  • Assessing the impact of potential changes to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and Principals.

  • Developing a strategic outlook for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

  • Supporting a state education department implement rapid changes in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Assessing the impact of reforms to Australia’s initial teacher education framework.

  • Developing an investment case for a large not-for-profit organisation on early childhood education and care in a highly disadvantaged community.

Prior to dandolo Tom worked as:

  • A senior policy adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

  • A policy adviser in the National Indigenous Australians Agency

  • A policy officer in the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development

  • A research officer in the Western Desert Lands Aboriginal Corporation

Tom has a double bachelor’s degree in Law and Arts (Political Science and International Relations) from the University of Western Australia. He is currently completing his Master of Public Policy at the Australian National University.
