What we’re looking for

We're looking for penultimate year undergraduate or postgraduate students to join dandolo as full-time paid interns, in July 2024 and December 2024 for three weeks. It’s a great opportunity to gain insight into what it is like working in a public policy consulting environment.

  • We are looking for interns who are:

  • Strong, structured thinkers and a clear, compelling communicators.

  • Are comfortable undertaking both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

  • Are intellectually curious, care about public policy problems and how to solve them.

  • Have positive attitude, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

  • Are organised and comfortable managing multiple pieces of work in an organised manner.

Please note:

  • You don’t need to be an Australian resident at the time of making this application, but you must have full-time unrestricted working rights in Australia to apply for this role.

  • Our offices are based in Melbourne CBD, and it is expected that all interns will be Melbourne-based while undertaking the internship. We are not able to cover relocation costs and it is expected that interns are available to work in the office for the duration of the internship.

  • Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate part-time arrangements or changes in dates for this internship. You must be available for the full duration of the internship (please see dates below).

What we offer and how we’ll support you

In 2024, dandolo will be taking two cohorts of winter and summer interns in 2024 for three weeks. Dates are as follows:

Winter interns: Monday 1 July 2024 – Friday 19 July 2024

Summer interns: Monday 2 December 2024 – Friday 20 December 2024

Please identify which intake is your preference in your application. You can select multiple if you would like to be considered for both intakes.

Interns will be allocated to real client projects and work collaboratively with dandolo consulting teams to undertake activities such as:

  • Conducting research and summarising key issues on projects.

  • Contributing to the design and development of materials for interviews and workshops with clients.

  • Attending client meetings, workshops, focus groups and reporting and analysing the outcomes of these conversations.

  • Developing slides and presentations to report on the findings of projects to clients.

  • Supporting coordination tasks to support project administration and management for clients.

Interns will also be:

  • Part of a cohort of interns and have opportunities to network and build relationships across the firm.

  • Assigned a ‘coach’ who will regularly catch up with you and other interns together while you’re at dandolo to support your learning and development needs and wellbeing.

  • Paired with a dandolo director, who will catch up with you while you’re at dandolo to provide some mentoring and career advice.

  • Receive competitive remuneration. Interns will be paid $58,000 including superannuation pro rata over the internship period.

  • Given the opportunity to apply for a dandolo graduate position through a shorter, more streamlined process at the end of the internship.

Recruitment process

There are two stages to our recruitment process for interns:

  • Written application – Submit a written application online through the link above by 11:59 pm on Sunday 12 May 2024.

  • Case study interview and verification of eligibility – If you are successful in making it to the next stage of the recruitment process, we will let you know by 24 May 2024. The next stage of the recruitment process will ask you to submit your academic transcript, CV and participate in a verbal study interview with dandolo staff, where we will ask you to respond to a scenario a client might bring to dandolo and outline how you would logically approach the problem and think through the scenario.

We will provide you with further information about each of the stages for our recruitment process and how to prepare should you successfully make it to the next stage. Offers for winter interns will be made by 7 June 2024.
