Maddy Blomfield

Maddy has a breadth of experience partnering with government clients to achieve positive outcomes. Maddy has delivered a wide range of projects – from policy design and strategy through to reviews and evaluations – for a diverse range of clients across sectors such as education, family violence, mental health, justice and regulation. Prior to joining dandolo, Maddy worked as a project manager in KPMG’s public sector team, a principal policy officer at the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System (RCVMHS) and a principal adviser as part of the Department of Health’s COVID-19 response. Throughout her career to date, Maddy has developed a strong reputation for delivering high quality work, operating at pace and bringing people together to address challenges.  

Key career highlights and sample of work prior to joining dandolo: 

  • At the Department of Health, developing and implementing the overarching strategy and plan for Victoria’s contact tracing system to determine the most appropriate response to escalating public health risk in the state throughout 2021.  

  • Leading systems thinking and reform work on multiple elements of the mental health system, in particular older person’s mental health. This included: undertaking research, reviewing evidence, working with key stakeholders to identify challenges and design policy solutions, as well as writing the final report. 

  • Managing a project to design the family violence system in Saudi Arabia. This included the design of an overarching family violence system strategy, development of an implementation plan and the design of the future operating model for women’s shelters. 

  • Supporting the Review of the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) conducted by Penny Armytage and KPMG in 2017.   

  • Supporting the Department of Education (New South Wales) to implement a new approach to transformation governance. This involved working with the Department’s key stakeholders – from Deputy Secretaries and Executive Directors through to program teams – to change ways of working with the aim of being more data led and outcomes focused.  

  • Supporting the project management of a large-scale, confidential transport project that involved various government departments. 

  • Supporting the merge of the Department of Transport, VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria through organisational design and process mapping.
