Education Organisation Impact Framework
Overview
Dandolo was commissioned to develop an impact framework for a national education organisation.
Approach
In this project we:
- Reviewed existing materials that the organisation had developed, which – while demonstrating significant thought and investment of time – were not necessarily fit-for-purpose
- Led the organisation’s executives and board through a collaborative process which determined why monitoring and evaluation was important (and principles as a result), what the organisation should monitor and how this should occur
- Converted this thinking into practical, applicable advice including worked examples and templates.
We also provided additional 'deep dives', providing tailored expert advice on:
- The organisation's overall approach to monitoring and evaluation. To do this we assembled a panel of in-house experts who considered the materials individually, as a group and in collaboration with the organisation to develop the advice.
- Use of comparator benchmarking to understand organisational reach. To do this, we analysed the existing tools and advice to capture data about organisational reach. We then undertook desktop research on comparative organisations to assess suitability of available data and investigated other tools the organisation could use to understand its reach.
- Options to measure the organisation's long-term outcomes and impact. To do this, we analysed their existing approach and gained a comprehensive understanding of the purpose and challenges in measuring long-term impact. We compiled an in-house panel to consider what the organisation should seek to measure to design a revised approach.
Outcomes
The organisation drew on this advice as it continued to develop and refine its approach to measuring impact.
